      Hi all -

I've joined a small startup as their first marketing hire and I am strategizing, planning, and executing all work.

I need to get to 3-4 reports I focus on per channel so I can still be relatively effective across multiple channels.

What are 3-4 reports I should be laser-focused on in Moz that will help me ID opportunities/threats and be able to identify best actions from.

Congrats on your new role! In Moz:

        Keyword Rankings: Track top keywords.
        Site Crawl: Fix tech issues.
        Link Analysis: Assess backlinks.
These reports = smart actions. Best of luck!

three actionable reports you should review daily are:

          • Website Traffic Report:

Key Metrics: Unique visitors, page views, bounce rate, session duration.
Actionable Insights: Identify traffic trends, high-performing pages, and user engagement. Optimize content and user experience based on observed behavior.

          • Sales Funnel Analysis:

Key Metrics: Conversion rates at each stage (e.g., lead to prospect, prospect to customer).
Actionable Insights: Detect bottlenecks in the sales process. Implement targeted strategies to improve conversion rates, such as refining messaging or enhancing follow-up procedures.

          • Campaign Performance Report:

Key Metrics: Click-through rates (CTR), cost per click (CPC), return on ad spend (ROAS), and engagement metrics for each active campaign.
Actionable Insights: Assess the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. Allocate budget towards high-performing channels and tweak underperforming ones to maximize ROI.

These reports provide critical insights that enable data-driven decision-making to enhance marketing strategies and drive growth.

As a small startup marketing leader, prioritize three key daily reports: website analytics for visitor insights, email marketing performance for campaign effectiveness, and social media engagement metrics to track audience interactions. Regular review of these reports enables data-driven decisions and optimization to drive startup growth.

In Moz, focusing on a few key reports per channel can help you efficiently identify opportunities and threats, as well as guide your actions effectively. Here are 3-4 reports you should consider:

              • Keyword Rankings Report: This report will give you insights into how your website is ranking for specific keywords in search engine results. Identify high-value keywords where your website is ranking well and look for opportunities to improve rankings for keywords that are relevant to your target audience but are currently underperforming.

              • Site Crawl Report: The site crawl report provides information about the health of your website from a technical SEO perspective. Look for issues such as broken links, duplicate content, and crawl errors that could be impacting your website's performance in search engines. Addressing these issues can help improve your website's visibility and user experience.

              • Link Analysis Report: Backlinks are an important factor in SEO, so it's essential to monitor your website's link profile. Use the link analysis report to identify opportunities to acquire high-quality backlinks from authoritative websites in your industry. Additionally, look for any toxic or low-quality backlinks that could be harming your website's SEO performance and take steps to disavow or remove them.

              • On-Page Optimization Report: This report provides insights into how well your website's pages are optimized for specific target keywords. Review the on-page optimization recommendations and prioritize optimizing pages that have the potential to drive significant traffic or conversions. Focus on elements such as title tags, meta descriptions, headers, and content quality to improve your website's relevance and visibility in search results.

By focusing on these key reports in Moz, you can gain valuable insights into your website's performance across different channels and identify actionable opportunities to improve your SEO strategy.

Need help in diagnosing what I may be doing wrong

seo expert seo ranking seo tactics

I have a site that has been having problems ranking. Initially, spam rate was at 18%. I have since changed the URL and forwarded to the original so now the spam rate is under 5%. Phone calls started picking back up very slowly but then by August 2024 things came to a screeching halt. Phone has been dead and very little business has been written. I did notice on the robots.txt file it had this: User-agent: *
                  Disallow: /
                  User-agent: Googlebot
                  Disallow:
                  User-agent: bingbot
                  Disallow: /no-bing-crawl/
Disallow: wp-admin and now I have since changed it to this:
                  User-agent: *
                  Disallow: /wp-admin/
Allow: /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php Sitemap: https://urlishere.com/sitemap_index.xml My question is what else do I need to do to get this site to start ranking again? We are blogging once a month, writing press releases once a month, updating the social media a few times a week. I feel like maybe there is something on the backend that needs to be done to get this site back to ranking. I am using SEO by Yoast and I have filled in the title and meta description fields for all pages. There is a spot in Yoast where I can validate the site with Google, Bing, etc. I'm trying to figure out how to do that. I do see in the site's Google Webmaster Tools there are several pages not indexing. Any ideas on what else I can do to get this site to start ranking again? Thank you.

Who is correct - please help!

seo tactics noindex google search seo rankings

I have a website with a lot of product pages - often thousands of pages. As each of these pages is for a specific lease car they are often only fractionally different from other pages. The urls are too long, the H1 is often too long and the Title is often too long for "SEO best practice". And they do create duplication issues according to MOZ. Some people tell me to change them to noindex/nofollow whilst others tell me to leave them as they are as best not to hide from google crawler. Any advice will be gratefully received. Thanks for listening.

URL structure for same product in multiple categories?

url inspection breadcrumbs technical seo seo tactics

Hello everyone ! I am building an ecom store using wordpress. I have assigned multiple categories to the same product. What should be the URL structure when users are navigating with different product categories? Categories Assigned: tshirt, blue, striped
Product Name: blue-striped-tshirt Option 01: Matching site navigation breadcrumb to product url URL - ecomstore.com/tshirt/blue-striped-tshirt
                  Breadcrumb - home/tshirt/blue-striped-tshirt URL - ecomstore.com/blue/blue-striped-tshirt (canonical to 1 product page)
                  Breadcrumb - home/color/blue/blue-striped-tshirt URL - ecomstore.com/striped/blue-striped-tshirt (canonical to 1 product page)
Breadcrumb - home/type/striped/blue-striped-tshirt Option 02: Same product urls and different breadcrumbs based on user site navigation URL - ecomstore.com/tshirt/blue-striped-tshirt
                  Breadcrumb - home/tshirt/blue-striped-tshirt URL - ecomstore.com/tshirt/blue-striped-tshirt (url same as 1 product page)
                  Breadcrumb - home/color/blue/blue-striped-tshirt URL - ecomstore.com/tshirt/blue-striped-tshirt (url same as 1 product page)
Breadcrumb - home/type/striped/blue-striped-tshirt I have decided to got with Option 01 so that the product in each category can be ranked according to each category keyword. Which option is the best according to your experience or is there any other best practice?

Clever Way To Increase Organic Search Traffic To News/Magazine Websites

newsseo magazine link building seo tactics

Hi fellow Mozzers... I've been asked to increase organic search (SEO) traffic to a news/magazine style website. All the website consists of is regular news articles within a specific niche. It is also already listed on Google News. I know we can improve any on-page tactics, such as optimising the article webpages, internal linking, improving the navigation and adding breadcrumbs etc. But what about off-page? They want us to work on backlinks to the site, which we can do for the homepage to improve the domain authority. But there's no point on increasing backlinks to the individual news articles, as they have a very short life span, and are not evergreen. Perhaps it's a good idea to increase backlinks to the category pages? But there are no real keyword opportunites on these pages. Can anyone recommend a clever SEO strategy to increase SEO traffic to a news style website? The site can be found at https://tinyurl.com/2p9arrwz Best wishes. Many thanks for any replies in advance 🙂 Lee.

Unsolved Building a report that provides all ranking keywords to specific pages on my website

                  keyword rankings reporting

I'd like to build a report that provides me all of the ranking keywords (tracked and un-tracked) for about 100 specific webpages on the rockhurst.edu site. I can pull the keywords from Keyword Explorer using the exact page url, but I don't want to have to do that individually for all 100 or so pages.

                  Inserting Keywords in Web Pages

                  seo tactics keywords

Hello! Question: When I add chosen keywords to my site (in urls, title tags, meta description, page content, headers, etc), do I need to put the words on my webpage exactly as they appear in my keyword research? So if I searched "therapist bay area" and I want to include these keywords, for example, must I use those words in that order in a sentence or header on my homepage? Or is it enough to include each word somewhere on the page?
