Most products on our site have redirects to them from years of switching platform and merely trying to get a great and optimised URL for SEO purposes. My question is this:

If a product URL has alot of redirects (301's), would it be more beneficial to me to create a duplicated version of the product and start fresh with a new URL?

I am not on here trying to gain backlinks but my site is tn nursery dot net (proof:)
I need some quality help figuring out what to do.
      Tammy

The power of URLs with existing 301 redirects compared to new URLs in search engine results (SERPs) depends on various factors. Generally, 301 redirects pass most of the link equity from the old URL to the new one, so they can still be quite powerful. However, if your products have accumulated a large number of redirects over the years, it may be a sign of URL changes that can impact SEO.

          Here are some considerations:

301 Redirects: 301 redirects are a good way to maintain SEO value when you change URLs. They pass the majority of link equity, which helps maintain your search engine rankings.
          (Study abroad)
URL Chains: It's important to avoid long chains of redirects. If a URL has gone through multiple redirects, it can dilute the link equity, potentially affecting its performance in SERPs.

User Experience: A complex web of redirects can also impact user experience. Visitors may encounter delays and confusion when trying to access a product.
( Colleges In Brampton Canada For International Students)

Canonicalization: Consider using canonical tags to specify the preferred version of the URL if you have multiple URLs pointing to the same content. This can help search engines understand your preferred version.

Content Quality: The quality and relevance of your product content are crucial for SEO. Sometimes, starting fresh with new, well-optimized URLs and content might be beneficial, but it also depends on your specific situation.

SEO Audit: I recommend conducting a comprehensive SEO audit of your website. This will help you identify issues with existing URLs, redirects, and content quality. It will also provide you with insights into the best course of action.

Consult an SEO Professional: Given the complexity of your situation, it's often a good idea to consult with an experienced SEO professional who can analyze your website's specific needs and provide tailored recommendations.

In summary, while URLs with 301 redirects can still perform well in SERPs, it's essential to consider the overall user experience, link equity dilution, and content quality. An SEO audit and professional advice can help you make the most informed decision for your specific situation on tn-nursery.net. (Canada PR) ( PMP Exam Prep)

Reusing an already 301 redirected URL for a very important keyword

            301 redirect 301 redirects

I have a question about reusing an already 301 redirected URL Till now I never reused an URLs that has been already redirected with a 301 redirect. However, I just started working on a website where in past they created a lot of 301 redirects without thinking about the future, and now certain URLs, that are currently redirected with a 301, would be very useful (exact match) and needed (for some of the most important keywords for this specific business), to maintain an optimal, homogeneous and "beautiful" URL structure. Has any of you ever reused a URL that was previously redirected with a 301 redirect? If yes what are your experiences with it? Can content on the reused URL (that was previously 301 redirected and than the redirect removed) normally rank if the page is reestablished and the redirect is removed (and you do great content, on page, internal linking, backlinking, .... ) or is such an URL risky / not recommended / "burned" forever and not recommended to be reused again... especially for very important keywords since it present the exact match ?! Thank you very much for all your help! Regards

            Unsolved 301 Redirect chain http>https>https:/www

301 redirects https www server level rule redirect chain

Dear community, I have the same issue with redirecting chain from http - https and then to https:// www.____
In one of the previous opened discussions the solution given was: you'd update the server level rule to point directly to the end URL form.
Re: 301 Redirect chain Are there any tutorials or resources available to help me properly implement this solution and resolve this issue? Tags: 301 Redirects, HTTPS, WWW, Server Level Rule, Redirect Chain Any tutorials how to do it properly to resolve this issue ?

Is 301 redirects a deal breaker for Migrating content or moving to new software?

            migration redirect 301 redirect

I have this forum with about 2 million posts for 16 years on root of the domain. I am looking to switch softwares but the top ones won’t help setup 301 redirects. But I can still migrate all my members and all my content (threads/posts), would Google still reindex all our content or if we don’t setup redirects would it really kill our entire traffic for a long time or maybe just a month or so? I really want to migrate to software that isn’t forum based but rather something that offers courses, chat, live video streaming, subscription based etc. and this is the only way to do so OR to set it up on an entirely new domain OR subdomain but to me that is like starting all over from scratch? I could archive the forum to read only and set it up on subdomain or another root domain - then on the archived forum setup banners and a pop up linking to the new site or new subdomain? . This is such a hard decision for us as the current forum we have had for so many years has lost members posting from 1k a day to just a handful a day, our fb group though gets 1k a day so I’m trying to revive a site into something more modern and has all the training features we can offer as well.

Put a 301 from /main to home page, now I'm panicking

            seo 301 redirect rankings

Hi, Our website is 10 years old, but I only noticed last night we had a https://curveball-media.co.uk/main page which has some badly formatted copy on. I redirected (301) to the home page https://curveball-media.co.uk/ Then I had a slight panic that maybe this was the wrong thing to do and it should be like it was with the home page and the /main page. Should I have left it or did I do the right thing?

301 Old domain with HTTPS to new domain with HTTPS

I am a bit boggled about https to https we redirected olddomain.com to https://www.newdomain.com, but redirecting https://www.olddomain.com or non-www is not possible. because the certificate does not exist on a level where you are redirecting. only if I setup a new host and add a htaccess file will this work. What should I do? just redirect the rest and hope for the best?

            Preserve domain on 301 redirect?

We have a domain solely used for print advertising that does a 301 redirect to a landing page (a department home page) on our "real" domain that is indexed on Google.  Example:  www.bmwrepairs.com redirects to www.repairshop.com/bmwrepairs. Is there a way to do a 301 redirect so that when they get redirected, the URL in the browser address bar remains www.bmwrepairs.com?

301 process, migration to new domain

Hi all! We have an old site wordpress based, with great ranking and PR 7, called www.europe-internship.com which is going to be migrated into our new Django site www.eurasmus.com (specifically eurasmus.com/en/europe-internships)
The new one is a much more advanced version that we will keep developing. We have been migrating the information already but we are planning to apply the 301s in the next weeks to start passing the SEO value to our new site and traffic. We have all the url structures and everything checked and technically we are ready for it.
Therefore, we are almost ready. I have 2 questions: The new site includes more services, like accommodation, information...not only internships. Therefore, should we point the most relevant urls from our previous site to our home to share the value or just to the internships section? I am afraid that if the bounce rate goes higher from the 301 we could loose some value... 2)Should we point all the urls at the same time to the new site? Home, vacancies, blog pages, etc... or start gradually doing it to see how it goes till we make it to all the pages including the home? The old site still makes some money and I am not sure how quick will be to pass the SEO value, so in the way we may loose few thousand euros...We understand that, but we want to check what would be the best in your opinion. Let me know what you think and your opinion! Thank you in advance!

Is it worth redirecting an old domain name which was hacked to my new website?

I had a website which got hacked and malware added to it. I have since closed that website down but I still have the domain name. That domain name prior to the malware was incredibly well ranking for its niche and had a good range of high quality links to it and a domain age of 6 years. I'm now creating a new website which is similar to the old one (the same but with a different platform and layout). Is it a  good or bad idea to redirect the old domain name to the new website?
